Introduction (Naka airfoil 0012)
In this section, we study transonic flow over Naka airfoil 0012. You will learn how to model external flows with high speed. This is important in many aerodynamic applications. Aerodynamics is one the most important subjects in the field of fluid mechanics. It focuses on the interaction of air and bodies. We can see the applications of aerodynamics in designing vehicles, different kinds wind turbines and compressors, wings, airplanes, and any flying object. Transient flow on the Naka airfoil 0012 is considered for the simulation. The experimental data is also available.
Naka airfoil 0012 simulation considerations
Flow is turbulent and as the flow is compressible we take into account compressibility effects. We use density based solver that provides good results in high-speed compressible flows. in this study we use ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS Workbench and CFD Post. Consider the mesh in Fluent and investigate it in terms of size and quality. Then, set the boundary conditions, Specify the materials which here we choose air. finally, Specify solver settings and start the iterations.
