Particle collision model in CFD

The standard Lagrangian model is limited to gas-particle diluted flows. Therefore, in these processes, particle interaction does not play an important role and the momentum is transmitted through continuous interaction with the particle. To adjust the collision of particle to particle we must select the Fluid Pair Models tab from Flow Analysis, and then activate the Particle Collision box. Then you have to choose one of the existing models. There are two types of User-Defined and Summerfield models in the software. In the User Defined model, the user defines the collision model. Input parameters in the Summerfield model are elastic coefficients, static frictional coefficient and kinematic frictional coefficient. If both coefficients of elasticity are equal, it is completely elastic and otherwise it is non-elastic. To investigate the effect of particle collisions on their pathway, the experimental tests such as Fohanna & Oesterle are considered.
