This section is a convergent or divergent duct, and its task is to slow down and uniform the air intake to the engine. If the air velocity of the inlet to the compressor is high, the velocity of the air at the tip of the blades will reach to the Sound speed and a lot of power will be consumed to rotate the compressor. If the input air velocity is InfraSound , this will be divergent. If the air velocity is above the Sound speed (ultra-sound), this channel will be convergent. In one supersonic flow air passes through a convergent duct, reducing its velocity at the opposite speeds. Therefore, the entry of sub-Sound aircrafts is divergent to reduce the speed and help the compressor.
