Cyclone is a system used for removing dirt and particles from air, gas and liquid. In many industrial systems we need clean air, gas and liquid. The separation in a cyclone is different from filters; here instead of using a filter, we use circulation or centrifugal force and the gravity force to clean the fluids. Cyclone body is made up of a cylindrical and a cone shape. For example, when the air enters the cyclone through the inlet, a circumferential whirlpool is formed and particles go down while the clean air goes up to the outlet. Cyclone geometry and flow rate are important factor for design. CFD simulations contribute to increase the performance of cyclones.
