Introduction (sliding mesh)
One of the most common practical engineering applications of fluid mechanics is the design of turbomachines. Turbomachines are the hearts of industries. Some types of turbomachines add energy to the fluids like pumps and compressors while others extract energy from fluids like turbines. In investigating turbomachines it is needed to analyze transient effects, including the interaction between the rotating blades and stationary blades. In this tutorial, the ability of ANSYS Fluent in sliding mesh for transient flow analysis in a single-stage axial compressor is used.
Sliding mesh modeling
Consider a mesh and investigate it in terms of size and quality. Then you should modify the materials. For this simulation, first, define a periodic area. Then set up transient solver and periodic boundary conditions to simulate sliding mesh. We specify interfaces for a periodic mesh. Finally, use the time-dependent data samples and compute mean values.
