In this section, we have tried to describe you the way in which species transport and gaseous combustion can be modeled. In the last twenty years, there has been a huge growth in the use of gas turbines in the industry, in power plants, airplanes, and rockets. The efficiency of gas turbines impact on fuel usage and high efficient gas turbines will reduce our costs. Here, for the investigation of species transport and gaseous combustion, we consider a cylindrical combustion chamber that burns methane in the air. In this study, we use eddy-dissipation model in ANSYS Fluent.
Steps in the simulation of the cylindrical combustion chamber
For this simulation, first, enable the physical models. Then, choose material properties and boundary conditions for a turbulent flow with chemical species mixing and reactions. Also, you should use the Pressure-Based solver solve the problem. Results should be compared to with constant and variable specific heat values. Using graphics you can check the reaction results. Investigate the production of nitrogen oxides.
