Description
Intrinsic FSI Concepts
In this training video, we describe the Fluid-Structure Interaction concepts and focus on Intrinsic FSI in ANSYS Fluent software. We provide you with a detailed and comprehensive tutorial to help you master all concepts of the FSI without any issues.
According to the intrinsic FSI, all structural calculations are performed by the Fluent solver, without the need to use extrinsic solvers and transfer structural data to the Fluent simulation through system coupling.
FSI analyzes the interaction between a fluid and a solid in contact, in terms of forces from the fluid to the solid and/or in terms of displacement or deformation from the solid to the fluid.
Therefore, in FSI simulations, we have two approaches to analyze the interaction between fluid and structure:
- One-way FSI
- Two-way FSI
For the intrinsic FSI simulation, the Structural Model is utilized in Fluent software. So, in structural analysis, we have two methods:
- Linear Elasticity
- Nonlinear Elasticity
We present and discuss governing equations for both linear elasticity and nonlinear elasticity. We used the finite element method to discretize the equations and explained the dynamic structural system.
