Description

Project Description

The purpose of this project is to investigate steady, incompressible fluid flow through a T-junction and perform a CFD analysis of velocity and pressure changes across the T-junction pipe, while monitoring the Pressure Drop under different inlet and outlet conditions. The entire 3D Modeling and simulation process was carried out using ANSYS Discovery software. We simulated a pipe with a diameter of 0.2 m and a length of 4 m.

Objectives

In this project, we will evaluate the pressure drop and velocity changes in a T-junction pipe through three different cases. In the first case, we will use a T-junction pipe with one inlet and two 90° outlets, and the flow will be separated through two equal paths. In the second case, we evaluated two inlets and one outlet, and in the third case, two outlets and one inlet. The inlet velocity is 2 m/s at all inlets.

T-Junction

Summary

After evaluating different cases of the T-junction pipe and measuring the pressure drop for each case, we recognized that Case 2 has the highest pressure drop and Case 1 the lowest. The maximum velocity occurs in Case 2 and the minimum velocity in Case 1.
