  • The current CFD project simulates the temperature distribution of a Battery via ANSYS Fluent software.
  • We have designed the geometry using ANSYS Design modeler software and created the mesh on this geometry using ANSYS meshing software.
  • The mesh type is Structured with 66,950 cells.
  • MSMD (Multi-Scale Multi physics Battery) Battery Model is used to analyze the current problem.

Thermal Management of Battery Using Nano Fluid

In this project, Thermal Management of Battery (using Nano Fluid) has been simulated and the results of this simulation have been investigated.

Battery Cooling (Thermal Management) by PCM, ANSYS Fluent Training

  • The problem numerically simulates the battery cooling by applying phase change material in a storage tank using ANSYS Fluent software.
  • We design the 3-D model by the Design Modeler software.
  • The present simulation is performed in two steps: without and with phase change material on both sides of the battery.
  • We mesh the model with ANSYS Meshing software.
  • The mesh type is Structured, and the element number equals 93090 and 276660 for the first and the second cases, respectively.
  • We perform this simulation as unsteady (Transient).
  • We use the Solidification and Melting model to define phase change materials.

Battery CFD Simulation Training Package, 4 Projects by ANSYS Fluent

The Battery CFD Simulation Training Package by ANSYS Fluent is a complete training toolset that shows how to use ANSYS Fluent software to model four different batteries. The package comes with the four projects below:

1. Battery, MSMD, and NTGK Models

The simulation is performed using the MSMD model and the NTGK method with ANSYS Fluent software. Its characteristics, including state of charge and temperature distribution on the body and voltage distribution, etc., have been checked to get a correct view of the performance of this battery.

2. Battery With MSMD Method

The current project simulates a potential dual battery using ANSYS Fluent software using MSMD Method.The battery has a nominal voltage of 24 amps with C-RATE 10.

3. Thermal Management of Battery Using Nano Fluid

This simulation is related to a Dual-Potential MSMD (multiscale multidomain) battery model.it simulates the Thermal Management of Battery Using Nano Fluid with with Mixture multiphase model.

4. Battery Cooling (Thermal Management) by PCM

This work aims to investigate the effectiveness of phase change materials in the cooling process of the battery in two stages; In the first stage, only one lithium battery is modeled, and in the second stage, two layers of phase change material are used on both sides of the battery.
