This package introduces you to various water turbine designs and how to simulate them, considering numerically a wide range of related studies.

At first, start the training package with 2 paper validation related to a lift-based in-pipe water turbine using the mesh motion method, and the performance of horizontal axis tidal current turbine by blade configuration by applying CFD simulation. After verifying our Computational Fluid Dynamics methodology, we investigate different kinds of famous water turbines (Darrieus, Pelton Wheel, Archimedes Screw Turbine (AST), Water Wheel, Kaplan, Francis Turbine, …) applying various CFD methods (Moving Mesh, Frame Motion (MRF), Fluid Solid Interaction (FSI), Dynamic Mesh, Cavitation, Multiphase VOF model) considering diverse turbine configurations.
